Gray Thomas nestling in the shadows of the Castle has an integral part of the town of Caernarfon for some time.

In 1924 the family purchased No. 10 Castle Ditch, a narrow, dilapidated building in need of repair.  The renovation work began, but as a result of competition from 'mass production', with tourism becoming increasingly popular, wireless gramophones and records became the main line towards the end of 1924.  Then No. 9 was acquired.

Later the family purchased No.11 Castle Ditch and moved their picture framing business there from No. 4 Bangor Street.

The pattern of the shop was beginning to emerge - records, music, wireless, gramophones and ''fancy goods in No.9 with picture-framing, post cards and artists' materials in No. 11. Until eventually an Art Gallery was opened in 1968.

The shop now continues the family tradition with the Art Gallery and onsite picture-framing.  Together with a shop which includes Books, Crafts, Gifts and Clothing with mainly a Welsh and Celtic theme.
